Dear madame, sir,
I am a regular viewer of Euro News.
I have, however, a question.
When your program give the headlines from the newspapers you allways show,
concerning Belgium, the french speaking newspaper Le Soir.
One must be aware that there are roughly speaking, about 6.000.000 flemish
speaking citizens versus 4.000.000 french speaking ones.
So why are the headlines of a flemish speaking newspaper not included in
the overview?
Please keep in mind that it is not up to me to suggest a particular paper,
that is best left to your editor, as I find that my favorite newspaper
must not play a role.
If for some reason you do not have contact with flemish newspapers, may I then suggest you do so?
Sincerely yours,
FONTEYNE FREDDY

Dear viewer We try to give as broad a representation of the European press as possible but we don’t have unlimited access to all the papers at the time the Press Review is being prepared during the night. However, you make an important point and I will raise it with those concerned. Thanks for your comments.

Malta held general elections on the 8th. March.
No mention of this event at all, from the 7th. to the 10th. March, except for the briefest of items on the 10th.
On the 10th. March colourful celebrations by the winning party’s supporters, not only merited coverage but could also have been included in your ‘No Comment” sectio.
Disproportionate coverage was given to the general election in Spain!
Why this discrimination, which I have also noted previously?
You have yet to mention Malta as having been the 3rd. country in the world to ban smoking.
Gauci Maistre Godfrey

Dear viewer We did a preview before the election and a story on the day of the vote. We also covered the outcome the following day. It is true that it was somewhat overshadowed by the Spanish election coverage but that was partly due to the fact that, for various reasons, only limited video material was made available to us. Regarding the smoking ban, euronews covered it at the time it was introduced and on frequent occasions afterwards. So many European countries have smoking restrictions now that we no longer list them all when it comes up as a story. Thanks for your comments. Head of English section

Why are EU members such cowards and hypocrites? Belgium has recently vowed compensation to survivors of the Holocaust and Austria remembers the Anchluss! How Ironic of the EU to harp on history whilst failing to focus on the Holocaust being waged by the state of Israel (offspring of the holocaust and wagers of a new one). How helpless is the EU whilst it watches Israel violate international law, UN resolutions and continue its massacre of the Palestinian people. Please stop being apologetic about Europes past whilst still turning a blind eye to israels current attrocities. Please comment I would like to hear the views of the EU it perturbs me as Europe always advocates its upholding of justice and democracy!

Dear viewer You express what many would consider very controversial views but it should be pointed out that euronews does not speak for the EU or any of its institutions or member states. We regularly report on events in the Middle East without commenting on the situation or advocating any cause, as is our role. Head of English section

I really liked the no comment movie of thurday last week, in which a crowd was witnesses teh calture of a tiger.
Will this movie be put online in the no comment section?
Secondly, I really enjoy watching euronews, and I think it is too bad that the station stops broadcasting everyday after 16.00 here in the Netherlands. It is really anoying.

I watched today on euronews that 20 thousand kurds were marching in Diyarbekir and they clashed with the police but it’s been almost a week now that at least 100 thousand people gather in the Freedom Square of Yerevan, Armenia and they do not go home, they sleep in their little camps, it’s the Armenian opposition that does not agree with the anounced results of the presidential elections according to which the acting prime minister won. I cannot understand why this is not being shown on euronews!!!

Dear viewer We have reported regularly on this event since the election. Here, for example, are the opening lines of one story that ran for many hours on 23/02. “Still no sign of the police breaking up the demonstations in the Armenian capital protesting against the result of Tuesday’s presidential election. International observers gave the vote a broadly “free and fair” endorsement, but the opposition is convinced of fraud. Last night Serzh Sarksyan, the new president, warned he would use the police if the demonstrators broke the law. Thousands were again reported in the streets today, three days after the result, which gave Sarksyan a first round victory….”.

I would just like to point out a serious mistake in your article ‘Cyprus election raises hope for reunification’ on 23 February.
The statement: “Turkish Cypriots in the north of the island – who play no part in the vote-...” is in no way representative of the situation. Although it may seem a minor mistake, it is misleading and insulting the Republic of Cyprus.
If you read a little bit more about Cyprus, you will find out that any Turkish-Cypriot has the same rights as any other citizen of the Republic of Cyprus and can make use of these rights any time they want. In fact, most of them do.
Further to your statement, Turkish-Cypriots have the right to participate in any elections of the Republic of Cyprus in contrast to what you stated. Hence, the can play a significant part in the vote as in any DEMOCRATIC state.

Dear viewer
Having the right to vote and “playing a part” in that vote are different things given the practicalities of life on Cyprus. But I take your point and would welcome the views of others on this subject as it is one which always generates a great deal of debate. Over to you. Head of English section.

I just wanted to say that people in Serbian do not approve attacks on the embassies. The attack was caused by the group of soccer hooligans and they did not destroy embassies only but entire city. The peaceful protest was held in complete order and prime minister and all participants in protest clearly said that this was a way to show our disagree, because Kosovo declarated independence, but in peace. They hooligans were drunk and they were just looking for occasion to act as wild as animals.
So we are ashamed because of behavior of that small group and of the picture that was shown in the world.

please note that you today broadcast and published on this Web site an utterly false information regarding Serbia. You say:
Serbia’s President Boris Tadic was re-elected on a promise of joining the European Union, not of defending Kosovo, and many of his people agree.
Please do be fair and correct this because you are implying something very very dangerous, let alone it being completely false!
Mr. Tadic has clearly defined two main goals of his campaign – European integrations, and DEFENDING KOSOVO.
Please don’t invent news, stick to the truth.
BTW, I watch you every day, that’s why I’m so upset when I see something like this from you…

Dear euronews,
You just seem to be a mere reflection of the EU foreign policy – a failure. I apologize for my harsh words, but what made me write them was the impression I have about your objectiveness.
Let me feed this with some examples. In your recent written summary for the news “Difficult Debut for EU Mission in Kosovo”, you wrote (quote) “Belgrade has Moscow’s backing against Kosovo’s secession and several EU members also have deep concerns about recognising it.” I would characterize this sentence as a pure piece of journalist art, but not as an objective fact. The truth is that several EU members (Spain, Slovakia, Romania, Cyprus) will NOT recognize Kosovo’s independence – they have no doubts or concerns about it. The other point here is that Belgrade has got not only Moscow’s support, but also Beijing’s, for example. The malicious statement from above (and a few others that I will not mention because of the limited space) just serves one sided thinking – the one of the US and of its underdog (EU). Given that most of the recent conflicts in the Balkans were media boosted, I am warning you not to promote the new ‘Cold War’.
Thank you for recognizing my opinions.

I thought Denmark was in Europe, so why no coverage on the six nights of riots there?

It is difficult to undertand your comment as we gave extensive coverage to the disturbances in Denmark.
