Food EU boosts food aid programme 29/09 19:32 CET
faq
To combat rising food prices the EU is to reinforce its food aid programme. In 2006 13 million people received assistance, but it is estimated 43 million Europeans suffer from “food poverty”. So the European Union has decided on a 200 million euro jump in food aid to half a billion euros. From next year aid will be more diversified to target the most vulnerable, and improve the range of products available.
